Thai Thai East

The popular Thai Thai offers the usual selection of Thai dishes – Pad Thai, Somtam Salad, a wide range of curries and the like – in a nicely decorated space that's laidback and roomy. There's a good range of mocktails using freshly blended juices like pomegranate and tamarind, alongside a range of teas with lovely names – we like the sound of the Flying Snow Welcomes Spring.

Thai Thai is based near Old Street Roundabout and offers a beautiful surrounding with some authentic Thai decorations.

The restaurant accepts a Tastecard which gives you 50% discount on food. I have had the chicken pad thai and beef red curry rice – both tasted great and you receive a decent portion. For most of the dishes you are given a choice of chicken, beef, vegetable or prawns.

The staff were friendly and I would return to the restaurant for another Thai experience.

This is a very large restaurant and was packed on a random Wednesday night. The ambience was good and service was better, than the previous reviews here. The food was great and lots of variety, I had the red curry and my friend had the green curry, both were yum. The starters weren't very good, but who can complain as it was 50 percent off with a time out card, so a two course meal with alcohol was less than £20 quid each, this is a great find near old street station.

Pros:Food was OK, with reasonable prices.

Cons: They did not offer the 50% discount though that you are supposed to get with a Time Out card. They had a 40% discount which was just what anyone could have, if they made an online booking. What's the reason of paying for a Time Out card after all if you don't get any special discount?

Delicious Thai food with a great choice of juices (try the Tamarin or Lychee, they're excellent). Ambiance is relaxed and décor is nice without being too over the top.

Shame the service is so poor... No smiles, a bit cold and brisk.

I have a feeling staff don't really listen to what you ask them. We had to wait till we paid the bill to finally get our tap water, and even then only one glass for the two of us.

If the service improves I'll gladly go back, but untill then it's a pass...

The food was not bad but the manager said we had to order an appetizer and entre per person in order to use the discount. I don't see that specified and think he made it up on the spot so we had to order more food. He also gave me hard time because I did not physically have my Time Out card but had an email from Time Out saying I can use the discount while my card gets delivered in the mail. Overall, I was not happy with customer service there.

Thai Thai is great for a speedy lunch. Their express menu means you can eat a one or two course meal within an hour (and be back in the office before you know it, boo!). Classic Thai choices - the mussaman curry was epic - but done well and served by friendly staff.

The restaurant is quite large and while that means you won't have to wait to be seated at lunchtime it also means that there's not much atmosphere. Perfect for larger groups though!

Food is delicious and well priced.  Staff are very friendly and it's always easy to find parking in the area.  Loving the dimmed lighting.
