This Old Bethnal Green cafe is one-half of The Canary hair salon, a chop-shop we really quite liked when we visited. The food side of things focuses on vegetarian and vegan food, often with a creative twist or two. (Expect plenty of colour.) Coffee is another strong point, and there's an event space and gallery downstairs in the basement. A lot of good things going on, then.
