This upmarket fish and chippy on Chiswick High Road brings a bit of sophistication to the enduring British favourite. True, there's a classic frying range keeping things warm under halogen lights but there's a bistro feel to the restaurant proper - wine bottles fill a cabinet, the menu is handwritten on blackboards and the wood flooring is positively brushed.
Fresh fish - deep fried with egg matzo batter, or grilled - is their bread and butter, with cod, haddock, rock, skate, halibut steaks and sea bass some of the swimmers on offer. They're served with a side salad and chips of course. It's not just about the fish though, with burgers, sausages, chicken, pies and various salads bulking out the menu. Takeaways prove popular, too.
Keenly priced beers sit alongside a short wine list covering well-known regions from across the globe. More than half are available by the glass, too.

The best fish, fantastic food and service! And the young man behind the counter is quite a catch too!
Beautiful fish, chips were fab and so were the mushy peas. Great service, all cooked fresh to order.
Their fish is very good, but their chips are never very crispy. Last week I got 7 portions and asked for especially crispy chips and they told me that they couldn't make them any crispier! All 7 of us agreed that the chips were soggy. I'd really like to use Catch more often, but they first need to learn how to make crispy chips.
I've been going to catch for a couple of years now and the food is great and the staff are very welcoming. I highly recommended The Catch if your looking for high quality fish and chips.
Spankingly fresh fish, fluffy and crisp chips. Onion vinegar. No attempts to follow trends by sophisticating up the food. Something we should be extremely grateful for. Classic fish and chips at its best. One of the best fish and chips restaurant in London indeed.
