The Fat Bear
Time Out says
There's a Southern feel to this soul food spot at the Rising Sun pub on Carter Lane. Keep an eye out for the sign, and then follow your nose.
Starters include dishes such as buffalo wings, Southern fried buttermilk chicken tenders and deep-fried pickles. Main courses feature a house burger, chilli braised short rib, Southern fried chicken with waffles and a San Francisco seafood cioppino – an Italian-style seafood stew with tomato and fennel.
Desserts are all-American classics, such as Key lime pie, waffles and an Oreo cheesecake. Cocktails, craft beer and a deent looking wine list also feature.

Perfect blend of great atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food. A very cool friday night favourite :)
Top notch food and drink and service that goes above and beyond. If anyone deserves top spot its these guys.
The service was lovely, so friendly and attentive! The food is incredible too, absolutely delicious!
Not only the best American food in London, but the best service too. We happened upon this restaurant by chance and it's become our absolute favourite place to eat by far - the staff are genuinely friendly, helpful and attentive and the menus change regularly.
The food is perfectly cooked, taking even humble dishes and elevating them with amazing cooking and dressing. Likewise, the cocktail menu is served with real skill and presentation.
Finally, the atmosphere - great low-key music to accompany the low (but not too low) lighting - it's laid back yet intimate. You could take a date or just have a laugh, or both.
Brilliant restaurant and I can't wait to go back.
Staff that treat newcomers like long-lost family, an alchemist at the cocktail bar, and the most incredible shrimp dip I've ever tasted. A place I've come to regard as my "local" despite neither living nor working anywhere near.
Sophisticated and simple menu options deliciously prepared. Lovely find in the midst of The City. Brilliant bar staff that can sate any thirst. And don't miss chicken and waffles.
A great restaurant with an awesome bar, the staff were attentive and I had a wonderful night with friends.
At this beautifully intimate dining space, the Southern-US style food is deliciously authentic and elegantly served, and they make the best Sazerac this side of Elysian Fields!
Fantastic low down deep south, American regional grub! Tasty on the lips but not so great for the hip.... but then again when your eating Chicken Fried Steak, fried Chicken and Waffles or a PB & J Burger who cares! That said take the time to try some of the inspired creations such as the game meat Gumbo! Starters are spot on too... The fried pickles, pimento cheese and hot wings are my go to snacks with a beer!
The food is excellent and I literally wanted to try everything on the menu. The service is excellent and they know their drinks and cocktails. Highly recommend giving The Fat Bear a visit.
Amazing food, great service, wicked cocktails. Would recommend to anyone who likes good American food!
Attentive, friendly and knowledgeable staff, beautiful food and delicious cocktails. What's not to love?
I dont think I have ever complained about a restaurant experience online ever, but I simply have to for my own sanity. We were really excited to go, but we were all left both extremely disappointed and bewildered. Our chicken was RAW. Blood was visible on a number of pieces, and the texture was that of raw chicken (we all know what that is like - chewy, pink looking, doesn't come off the bone). We told our waiter, hoping he'd take it away and give it some more time in the fryer, but he insisted that it was indeed cooked and that we were wrong, refusing to take it back (Seriously?!?!?). We didn't eat it, because we literally could not. The bill arrived and again we said that we could not eat the chicken because it was NOT COOKED. And again our waiter insisted that it was indeed cooked and that these new young chickens always show blood when cooked. I explained the texture too was that of raw chicken, and all he did was tear up the bill and send us away without having to pay for our chicken. We didn't want a free meal. We just wanted our chicken cooked some more so we could enjoy it. It ended quite angsty and agro which was such a shame. Hugely disappointed. Raw chicken is one thing, but totally resolvable ("sorry guys, lets cook it a little longer"). Dismissing us customers as not knowing what we were talking about was something I have never experienced in a restaurant.
