The Library Lounge offers a couple of hours of solace whilst you look out of the window at the madness of Southbank. It offers a solid afternoon tea and the ambience is great.

We decided very last minute to see if we could get a table for the 2pm sitting on Bank Holiday Monday. We booked at 1130! I was impressed that the staff were aware of our booking despite it being very last minute. We were seated by a window and getting the opportunity to choose our teas by smelling them was good fun. We had one that wasnt labelled so we spent ages trying to work out what it was. Small things amused us especially when the waiter joined in too.

I ordered a gluten free afternoon tea and the staff were as attentive as they could be. I was slightly disappointed by the sandwiches as they were very dry and no smoked salmon, no roast beef! Never less they were presented well but I passed up the opportunity for another round. Onto the scones….. now we are talking my language! Non gluten free (i.e. ordinary afternoon tea) covers sadly dont get a savoury scone but I was thankful for the explanation of how they have tried and tried and tried and they just cant make a tasty one. The sweet scone though… gosh. So yum. Warm, fluffy but filling and the perfect combo with clotted cream. I didnt have the jam as I found it too sweet with the raisins. I asked for more scones (yes Im greedy) but sadly they said they ran out. Fair enough, I didnt really give them much warning I was coming. As a substitute I was given more dry sandwiches! Oh no! I didnt touch them but luckily the waiter came back smiling as they had found more gluten free scones. Heaven. I didnt have room for the cakes so the partner scoffed them but they were apparently very tasty. So tasty he shut his eyes when eating the cherry chocolate cake.

Im marking this as three stars as it was pleasant, the staff were great but there was a bit of improvement needed especially on gluten free savoury food items. Ambience was excellent and i would love to see this place improve their offering as i would make it my local ‘afternoon tea’.

Lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon, what's not to love with free flow prosecco and view of Thames riverside! Price is £41 per person, slightly pricey but the service, food pretty much made up for it. Love the scones, sandwiches were delicious as well. The bubbly does fill you up so go slow. A very nice place to hang out with a few friends, the selection of tea was great as well!

Amazing setting for a relaxing afternoon tea with views across the river to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Staff are truly fantastic and attentive, and made us feel like royalty!

Ever flowing bubbles, delicious food and stunning views of London's iconic Thames riverside; Afternoon Tea at Marriott County Hall's Library Lounge is the perfect way to showcase the capital to a visitor or to celebrate a special occasion.

For £39, you are treated to unlimited afternoon tea and prosecco to add sparkle to your experience. The afternoon tea itself is delicious; classic dishes with slight modern twists to make every mouthful exciting. The fact it includes both sweet and savory scones is a massive plus; the lime and chive scones served with cream cheese were the highlight! The sandwiches are fresh and delicate; top tip- although you can ask for as many sandwiches and scones as you would like in your 2.5 hour sitting, try to resist! With all the fizz, you don't want to be too full to try the lovely, fruity and beautiful cakes to finish- the pistachio cake was moist and tasty.

The room itself is lined with bookcases filled with historical old books and looking out over the London Eye and the Houses of Westminster isn't half bad either. I'm not normally one to notice, but the lighting was really bright and didn't create much of an ambience. Some real fires in the stunning fireplaces and lamps on the tables would have made it all a cosier affair.

The service was great, it was rare I had anything less that half a glass of bubbles which meant I was suitably tipsy. If you don't fancy boozing with your cakes, their selection of teas is above and beyond! Would definitely recommend if you want to see London through the tourist eyes for a change!
