The Phoenix - Victoria

The content on this page is provided by a Time Out partner.

The Phoenix, just 5 minutes from Victoria Station, is alive in the week with office workers and on the weekend the hubbub comes from the tourists popping into Buckingham Palace. Our menu showcases the fresh seasonal ingredients whilst reminding all how good traditional British food can be.

The large bar is a mix and match of tables, armchairs, with space at the bar for those wanting to sample the real ales or a fine fine glass of wine.

Upstairs is the private dining room, The Yalumba Room ideal for meetings, dinners, drinks and more. Out the back is the garden delightful for a light lunch or after work libation. The Royal Family have a delightful local.

Great little spot to get a group of friends together and relax with great food and wine selection.

Handy little spot beside Victoria station. Great place for a catch up with decent grub. Cute little outside area too. Service can be slow but fine if you're not in a rush.

Came here for pre theatre eats. Nice decor & menu with friendly staff but service was so slow. Waited ages for each course & had to keep telling the waitress we had to rush for a show yet still were running out the door with no time for dessert despite arriving 6pm for a 7.30pm show next door. Food was average & not cheap.

Fairly standard boozer in Victoria. Food was nice, but service slow at the bar, even though there weren't many customers in. Handy for local theatres but otherwise in a slightly peculiar spot.

What a disappointment this pub is for vegetarians! Let's be clear, this is a fine pub with a great atmosphere, good wine list, some great beers and lagers on tap, good ciders and some of the best staff around. Trouble is, if you don't want to eat meat or fish, you are stuck with a couple of small and unimaginative goat cheese salads for starter AND main course. I went last night and outside it was freezing and wet and something more than a plate of leaves would have been welcome - and a decent amount would have been nice. Come on Phoenix, you charge around the same for a meat or fish dish, so please make an effort with some imaginative vegetarian food and a decent size helping
