I booked a meal for 4 people on Groupon at Tony's American Style Restaurant and Bar. The deal was £9 per person for a Special Burger, a beer or wine and cheesecake. We arrived outside the "restaurant" and I was horrified, having booked it I felt it was on me if this was not a good night. Little did I know that the appearance of the place was just the start! The sign looked like it used to be the sign for a sunbed hut, and Tony appeared to have simply written Tony's over the lovely palm tree!! We went in and were greeted by the waitress. The place consisted of around 6 small tables, and looked very much like a takeaway rather than the restaurant/bar we were expecting. It was boiling hot and we had to ask to leave the door open throughout the time we were there, making it feel even more like a takeaway. I explained we had a Groupon voucher, and she still gave us a menu. Having left it with us for a while she came back over and asked what we wanted. I told her that the Groupon was a set meal, and after reiterating that point a few times, she went away with our food and drink order. The drinks took around 10-15 minutes to arrive, amazing considering we were literally the only people in the place! 2 drinks, our side dish of onion rings and around 45 minutes later, our food arrived. The "burger" was not as advertised. For a start it did not contain a burger, it consisted of 6 small pieces of what tasted very much like severely overcooked tough leather. It was inedible, although one positive was the chips were nice. This is despite 3 of the 4 of us having asked for seasoned fries, and only 1 came out seasoned with a little paprika sprinkled over the top of them, so I didn't feel like I missed out on much in that respect. What may be most worrying thing about the main course, is that without the "deal" we had the burger alone would have cost around £12!! Another highlight was during the dinner when the waitress came over to bring another drink, and smashed one of the pint glasses when putting down the drink. She didn't even bother to remove the glass that was on the table. She also removed one drink which was still half full, and attempted to do the same with another but we stopped her doing so! In summary, Tony's American Style Restaurant and Bar is neither a restaurant nor a bar, and the most American thing about it is the picture of Martin Luther King Jnr on the wall (alongside a picture of that well known American band...The Beatles?!). I really wouldn't even give this place 1 star out of 5, and I really cannot recommend not go there :)

Nice and clean from the front - but they actually cook the grilled food in the alley out the back next to the huge commercial bins + rats + pigeons. Yuck. You can see them cooking by going around the corner into Arlingford Road and looking right at the alleyway.
