First of all I like to eat good food at restaurants with friends and family from time to time. That being said the experience is ruined if the food is an UTTER DISAPPOINTMENT as experienced at the Turtle Bay in WALTHAMSTOW.

Let me elaborate, the drinks were poorly made, tasted watered down as if they were placed on the side allowing for the ice to melt. To add insult to injury, one had hair in it...Ewww! gross.

The dishes we ordered were VERY DISAPPOINTING ! Jerk ribs, best described as incinerated and tasteless, as it had no seasoning not even  SALT with sauce poured over it, NOT COOKED with sauce.

The curry goat had more potatoes than meat, with the meat very fatty with very little taste. Both dishes were lukewarm.

All in all a disappointing and POOR experience of Caribbean-like cooking ! raised these concerns with the management as a result our meal will not be charged.

Avoid Walthamstow, never again !

I'm the friend mentioned below who got the curried goat - IT WAS DELISH!

Okay so as Em said, I was really surprised that the staff were able to seat us - and with pleasure! - so late at night. We were a pretty big group, after all, and to be treated so well was really nice. The servers were friendly and helpful when discussing the dishes on the menu (of which I'd like to try pretty much all of them) or the cocktails (yep, 2 for 1, with a very extensive list!) and they made some great recommendations. The vibe in there was pretty fun, with lots of island-flavoured décor and some good tunes on in the background. There were lots of groups there too, and everyone seemed to be having a good time - including the staff! That tells me everything I need to know about a place, when the staff seem to be enjoying their jobs. So yes, the drinks and the food were really good, echoed by everyone at the table, and I can't wait to return!

I was so happy to visit the Walthamstow branch of Turtle Bay- even happier about the 241 cocktails happy hour they have from 10 until close! It has a great vibe and you just felt really happy walking in!

The best thing about the evening was that the staff were so accommodating- the place was packed and there rolls in a group of 6 at half past 10 at night and they kept the kitchen open to cook us food!! And the food tasted DELICIOUS! It didn't seem rushed, even at that time of night, and they got it to us quickly! The spinach, aubergine and sweet potato one pot curry was TO DIE FOR! Mouth-wateringly good, I still dream about it now and I can't wait to go back and have it again- although, my friend had the curried goat and that was just as good, according to her!

Obviously the 241 for cocktails deal is quite popular- and it seemed that it was just a good place to visit as a bar, without eating food! Be aware that this deal is only the case if you get two of the same- which isn't a problem because the drinks were just as tasty as the food!

I will definitely going back there and it's great groups of people and perhaps dates, if you were to go a bit earlier in the evening!

Turtle Bay are a small stylish chain offering Caribbean food and fantastic cocktails with happy hour before 7pm and after 10pm. Tables are reserved predominantly for those dining so if you're there just for the cocktails then you'll need to perch yourself at their circular bar in the centre. The vegetarian food selection is limited but the meat dishes do look pretty incredible. Despite not usually being a cocktail person, I'd rather come for the great selection of drinks/cocktails and the setting - the place has an upbeat and happy vibe.
