Mexican food is far more than the famously derogatory comments made by one infamous Top Gear presenter. However, I was fearing an intense sluggish fried carb fest. We came on a Monday and the place was busy without being oppressive. The beauty in coming as a group of 4, was that we could mix and match dishes as we could order 2/3 dishes each. The top dishes were the MSC battered cod tacos and the wild mushroom empanadas. Our waiter Sam was very efficient and friendly. He did mention if you're ever in a hurry then you could use the Wahaca app to pay and go.

It's difficult to find anywhere in Canary Wharf that isn't rammed with office workers post 6pm but Wahaca is a cheap and cheerful option for dinner and drinks in the evening. Our team tends to gravitate towards The Parlour nearby but I much prefer Wahaca as it's far less crowded and has much quicker service. The staff are always really friendly and the cocktails are lovely - my personal favourite is the Passion Fruit Vanilla Mojito. In the winter you can grab a table overlooking Canada Square's ice rink and they have a funky terrace bar which you can book for up to 80 people, perfect for large work dos!

Went to Wahaca's for their Taco Tuesday special during lunch the other week. Sadly the deal is coming to an end which is a pity because it is fantastic for those of us on a tight budget!

I have to say the food was splendid! I went with a friend and we shared a variety of tacos and quesadillas and it brought all the memories of Mexico flooding back. My favorite was probably the chicken buttermilk taco but i have to say all the food was excellent.

The service was also spot-on, the waiter was very friendly and the food came out quick and hot which is always a positive. I would highly recommend it for an express lunch.
