I'm a sucker for linen tablecloths and napkins - adds a touch of class - thouth the tables a little close together to allow private conversation.  The food was acceptable, though my risotto starter was wetter than it should have been, My partner's gluten-free request was dealt with knowledgeably and adapted without fuss - the rye bread with the crab mayonnaise starter being substituted with rice cakes.  He was advised against the beef bourgignon as it contained wheat and chose instead a flavourful pork belly.  My choice of cod fillet was delicious and light. We plumped for the chilled draught Peroni to accompany the meal as it seemed to fit the mood of the restaurant - the sun shining in the open doors and a view over the park opposite.. We thought summer had arrived!  Altogether, a very pleasant experience.  Not the cheapest option in the area but one of the best.

Absolutely love this place! This is a nice cosy restaurant which is located few mins walk from Waterloo station. I Came here on a Friday evening and was surprised it wasn’t too packed.

We had the squid for starters and the chef specials confit duck leg and the lamb rack as mains. Both were delicious! Was blown away by the dessert too, sticky toffee pudding. It was well presented and we finished it off in seconds.

Service was brilliant, staff were attentive and friendly. Great value for money given the delicious food and nice ambience.

Would definitely visit again!

Found this on TimeOut as a restaurant in Waterloo that we had yet to sample, it was good. The food was all delicious and tasty, particularly the saffron hake special. They have an extensive wine list which includes a reasonably priced Picpul de Pinet. We enjoyed the meal, but the rather large dining room lacked character or any wow-factor. My review: "fine".

I ate here pre theatre before seeing a show at the Old Vic. Didn't realise it was even there because always approach from the station. Have to say was v impressed. Lovely varied menus with tempting specials, efficient service & friendly staff. My lamb was delicious & cooked to perfection. Handy location near Old/Young Vic & Waterloo. It beats the soulless South bank chains hands down & is a great choice in this part of town which lacks independent restaurants.

I originally visited the Waterloo area to eat at Waterloo Bar and Grill, but it seems to have closed down and been replaced by one of those ghastly chain places! And so I decided to explore a little further down the road and I came across Waterloo Bar and Kitchen. A brief glance at the menu and the nod from my girlfriend found us inside the rather busy restaurant. However, the smiling manager seated us quickly, our drink order was taken in minutes and the food not long after. We soon learnt that the business was due to the Old Vic theatre being next door, and we were thrilled that, once the restaurant emptied before it's second rush, we were offered a more comfy booth table. We went for the mussels and the pate to start with, both were excellent and tasty. The main meals of the lemon sole and lamb (both from the specials board) were also perfect - my sole was cooked to perfection. We had decided to take go for starters over dessert, but after seeing the next door table receive a warm chocolate brownie, we had no option but to share one with some double espressos - heaven! We washed the food down with a rather lovely Chablis and thoroughly enjoyed our evening!

I had a wonderful anniversary meal here with my husband. The staff did everything they could to make the evening special for us, the food was wonderful and the wine selection was second to none! I love how close it is to Waterloo station as well!
