This venerable riverside pub has had a quietly turbulent time recently, thanks to a couple of ownership changes. However, it seems to be settling down again, not that anyone’s in any great hurry for it to change.

The main selling point is the location: set on a particularly rural bend of the Thames, it’s in a peach of a spot, and the views over the river are wonderfully bucolic. But if the weather rules against sitting outside, the interior’s far from ugly, wearing its 300-year history with ease.

Unsurprisingly, the offerings from both bar (decent ales) and kitchen (pub grub) don’t divert much from tradition, but that’s just the way the locals and the occasional interloping tourists like it.

This is a lovely, chill pub with great views of the river. There's a patio area right outside the door as well as across the narrow street (although that floods when the tide comes in, as I saw yesterday!) I wish I had eaten here as well- the corn tacos with spiced aubergine filling sound divine. Next time.

I would choose this place over The Barmy Arms any day- better views, more intimate.

With so many pubs to choose from around Richmond it's hard to make a selection but having been recommended this one by the river we trekked all the way there to discover they had finished serving food at 3 on a Sunday!! Disappointed we were walking down the street when a member of staff came out to say we might just catch last orders...a quick menu order of the lamb Sunday roast and glass of red and we were happy again!

It's a small pub with a small out doors area which I was expecting to be bigger and the roast was good but a lot more veg than substance...perhaps we just unluckily got the last servings of the day.

its pretty much your average country pub doing what it says on the tin.

A personal favourite in Twickenham.  I row down the road at TwRC and this has been my favourite pub all summer. Great beers, good food and a wonderful terrace that overlooks what is probably the prettiest part of this part of the Thames.  Just mind the tide which will catch you out if you don't expect it!

Food is awful and the attitude of barstaff match the quality of the food. Really disappointed as I work locally and have visited the pub on many previous occasions - however it now appears to have new ownership/management and I won't be going back!
