Last Wednesday, my family and I came to Wildwood to have dinner with my brother’s friends and their families. There were about 16 of us in total, and they were nice to join tables together to give us one long stretch in the centre of the restaurant.

To start our meal, we ordered some Olives and Garlic Bread (with and without cheese) to share along the table. I thought the olives were actually really good! They were soft in texture but still firm with each bite, not too salty, and seasoned well. As for the garlic bread, I wasn’t a big fan because it was made in a very British way – a pizza dough base, topped with crushed garlic and butter/olive oil.

For my main, I wanted something that was dairy-free but this was quite hard to find on the menu. Our waiter handed me the allergens menu, which gave me a better idea of what each dish was prepared with and the ingredients.

However, I settled for the Baked Sea Bass Fillets. This was served on top of a bed of vegetables and with some pesto sauce. I opted to switched the ‘gratinated potatoes’ for a fresh salad on the side since I wanted to stay clear of the dairy in that. It actually wasn’t too bad of a dish because there was a variety of vegetables – red onion, courgettes, spinach, and cherry tomatoes. The sea bass was also baked very well – it was flavourful, had a good amount of flesh, a crispy skin, and juicy!

In terms of service, it was a tad poor at first because our waiter was rather clumsy – bumping into people while setting the starter plates, forgetting to serve certain people, and took rather long to get us tap water even though the restaurant wasn’t super busy. It got better, as he suggested alternatives and switches for my dish in particular since I wanted something dairy-free. Although my fish still had pesto in it, that contains a small amount of dairy and nothing that would make me feel sick. I think we all enjoyed our food, as the quality was decent for a chain restaurant. However, I wouldn’t come back on my own to dine with friends or even family. It’s probably best for a large gathering and more because it can accommodate than for its food.

Recently visited for drinks and dinner, and the staff were so friendly and attentive. The food and ambience was great, and I honestly could have eaten endless amounts of the bread (definitely recommend!) It was really conveniently located 2-3 mins from Gloucester Road tube station. Other dishes I loved were the fries and calamari :)
