The only thing better than a long, boozy lunch with the best people? A long, boozy brunch with the best people. There are loads of reasons why we prefer it to dinner or lunch. A) You can indulge in cocktails and Champagne for hours and still be tucked up at a reasonable hour with no hangover in the morning – it’s almost like it never happened. And B) In the summer, it’s a chance to soak up the sun and work on your tan while chewing the fat – talk about multi-tasking!

That’s why we’re particularly excited about The Main Event at The Gun. The recently refurbished tavern and restaurant in Spitalfields is serving up a brand-new brunch menu every Saturday from 12-5pm complete with indulgent dishes cooked up using the very best ingredients and all the vibes. The Breakfast Burger is the stuff of dreams with a butter croissant loaded with a Herefordshire chuck and rib beef patty, crispy bacon, gooey American cheese, spicy jalapeños, habanero mayo and a rich egg yolk running straight through the middle. Loud, messy and absolutely the right decision before midday. Elsewhere on the new menu, there’s the French toast – thick-cut brown butter brioche with cinnamon whipped cream, maple syrup and bursting mixed berries – as well as the burrata and peach salad. WIth creamy burrata, sweet peaches, parma ham, peppery rocket and toasted walnuts finished with balsamic glaze, it’s summer on a plate. Sides are by no means sideshows, either – you’ve got to try the spiced tater tots,  padrón peppers, truffle and parmesan fries and shepherd’s pie croquettes. All lipsmackingly good! 

But what would brunch be without booze? As part of the Main Event, you’ll be able to wash everything down with a glass of Veuve Cliquot Brut Yellow Label, frozen porn star martinis and Aperol spritzes and iceberg affogatos.
