Korean fried chicken really does give Colonel Sanders a run of his money, and then some. I mean, southern fried chicken is good, but Korean fried chicken is great, and we hoped that WING WING could step up to the plate so we can get serious about getting our fat on.
What we had:
Signature Wings, mix of soy garlic and hot
Signature Drumsticks, mix of soy garlic and hot
Skinny Seaweed Fries
Even though our order did take a little longer than expected, everything came out very fresh and piping hot. Definitely go for the wings here as they’re crispy, juicy and succulent; whereas the larger drumsticks were slightly drier. For those who like spice, definitely go for the chilli flavour (personally, I think they could have gone spicier, but I know they have to adapt to the British palate) and remember you can do a mix and match of any of the flavours (soy garlic, hot - as in chilli, or liquorice). The soy garlic flavour was also good as it was moreish without being too sweet. The fries are fresh, hot and crispy; however, I’d pass on the seaweed one as they don’t really give it enough dusting of the seaweed to make it worthwhile. I’d also pass on the kimchi coleslaw as its pretty mediocre and lacked any real kimchi flavour. A friend who lives nearby says that it’s become a bit of an addiction and we don’t blame him - there’s a lot on the menu so I’ll definitely be going back for seconds (read: I saw the dessert menu and may or may not have drooled). Tip: you can mix and match your flavour of chicken; there are party packs for four or eight people if you can’t decide, and there’s a range of beer and interesting drinks like a ginger beer slush. Good For: cheap and cheerful, quick meal, catch up with friends, casual lunch/ dinner/ drinks, something different, large groups.
