I love sushi but this was my first time visiting the Yo sushi franchise.
The restaurant was large and spacious with the chefs in the middle, I like that you are able to see them cooking.
I wasn't sure how the system worked and it wasn't explained to me by the waiters who probably assumed I had been there before or would just read it in the menu. I went with my son and we ordered the chicken katsu curry and beef katsu curry. The portions were really small and as the beef is only accompanied with cabbage it wasn't very filling. We took bowls of sushi from the side but I can see that the bill would really add up if you wanted to fill yourself up. From the words of my 12 year old "it's a great concept but a bit of a cheat" With so many other sushi places offering better value I probably wouldn't return.
I nipped in for some take away sushi. The selection in the fridge was pretty understocked. The service at the till took a long time and the assistant managed to drop my sushi so I had to hang about while they remade it! I remember when Yo Sushi was the height of innovation and sophistication but now it just seems so meh! Plus they wouldn't let me use my discount card because it was takeaway - what a pointless distinction!
