Time Out says
A Japanese-inspired restaurant, originally from Ibiza, now in Covent Garden and backed by Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Nadal and Enrique Iglesias.
ZELA’s cuisine is led by acclaimed Michelin starred chef Ricardo Sanz, who has created the fusion menu of Japanese techniques and flavours applied to Mediterranean products and traditions.
Offering an abundance of fresh fish and seafood from the Mediterranean; ZELA’s own style of raw dishes includes tatakis, tartars, sashimi, sushi, gyozas and tiraditos among others. Signatures include scallops with Ibizan sobrasada and butterfish nigiri with white truffle. Asian influences can be found in dishes such as Iberico pork gyoza, usuzukuri toro pa amb tomaquet (thinly sliced tuna belly sashimi with grated tomato, olive oil and breadcrumbs) and 48-hour braised Wagyu teriyaki.
In addition to the a la carte, a quick service set lunch and pre-theatre menu is also available offering four courses and a drink for £27, while the tasting menu is ideal for any celebration.
ZELA has created a menu of cocktails which harmoniously balance Asian ingredients with the zest of the Mediterranean. The wine list has a focus on Spanish wines, plus a handpicked selection of premium sakes. A daily happy hour from 5.30pm – 7.00pm offers an ideal post-work destination for drinks and nibbles.
