Junglist Nicky Blackmarket’s BM Soho has kids queuing up to snag his latest promos. Don’t come expecting anything other than upfront club music: the ground floor stocks house, minimal and techno, while the basement remains London’s most reliable dispenser of new and pre-release drum’n’bass, with dubstep, bassline and UK garage represented too. Both are kitted out in futuristic black metallic that only amplifies the apocalyptic bass sounds emanating from the sound system. Come on a Friday afternoon when turntablists nod into their headphones trying out white labels for the weekend’s sets and it can feel like you’re already clubbing. DJs also head here for last-minute equipment – slip mats, needles, mixers and speakers reside at the back.
