This Hackney independent benefits from its position on the canal end of popular Broadway Market. A smart layout and intelligently weighed stock boost its appeal further. The shop is a thoughtful enterprise, promoting small publishers like Eland and stocking lots of New York Review titles, plus interesting reprints of forgotten gems. There’s plenty of top-drawer literary fiction and a large travel section that’s strong on London and local history. The second-hand collectibles have become more popular since last year, with punters keen to get their hands on old Penguins and 1930s and ’40s hardbacks. The shop is also a permanent exhibition space, promoting local artists.

Because coming here is such a wonderful experience - with atmosphere and friendly help and all the things you would never get online (!!!)
You can find books here that your mainstream chain won't have - I can spend ages scouring the shelves for an unexpected find.
I love this place...it's quiet, peaceful, full of incredible books, it's easy to like it as an introverted person
Possibly the cosiest bookshop in Hackney! Really wonderful shop with lots of books across a broad range of topics.
