Christie's is where the most expensive canvas was ever auctioned, sold for 179 million dollars in New York: les femmes d'Alger by Picasso. So why talking about overpriced art in TimeOut? In fact, the famous auction house is not so elitist and opens its auction rooms free of charge to the public. An opportunity to feel the excitement of the flying numbers without burning your debit card. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Christie's, located in South Kensington welcomes you on the first Tuesday night of each month. It transforms into a museum that exhibits a wide range of styles, from modern English pre-Raphaelite to contemporary artists like Damien Hirst. You can admire the artworks by yourself or ask the curators for more explanations. Specialists also come to talk about art and design. Fun activities are organised during the evening and you can take a glass at the bar. Art is fun :)
