Cloud Cuckoo Land

This fun little shop has a great selection of very wearable dresses from the 1930s to 1970s. Stock is feminine and quirky: elegant 1930s full-length silk slips, ’40s crêpe cocktail gowns and ’50s circle skirts. There are often some good ’70s labels here too, such as John Varon, Bus Stop and Janice Wainwright or perhaps a superb 1960s Susan Small black satin duster coat, beautifully lined. At the back of the shop you’ll find accessories, coats and jackets, plus a good selection of wraps, scarves, shawls and ’50s novelty bags. The cheerful owner is happy to make suggestions if you’re after a particular vintage look.
