With a manifesto that includes ‘reaching to the deepest places in yourself’  (mightn't that pull a muscle?), Fierce Grace sounds extreme. The reality is a lot like Bikram, though not as sweltering, with postures that flow more smoothly. The classes range from 50 minutes – ‘The Fix’ – to 1 hour 46 minutes – ‘The Beast’ and involve a series of yoga positions in a 38C hot room.

I've come to grips with the fact I'm not flexible. That's why I don't go to pilates or yoga and stick to the treadmill or boot camp. So when I decided to try the yoga down the road from me, it was a big step. Little did I know how big a step it was. 

"Have you tried hot yoga before?" I think I just died a little inside, hot yoga?? This I was not prepared for. Walking in, I realised I was the most overdressed person there...I was wearing a t-shirt. 
But Shirley made it so easy to follow and feel comfortable that except for the dripping sweat, I really felt at ease. Thankfully I want the only beginner there but she did stress to us to only go as far as we feel the stretch. I did not need to balance my whole weight on my hands like the rest of the class. 
The class is 90 minutes long so at the 75 minute, I did need a bit of fresh air and walked out for 5 minutes and that's also perfectly OK. Classes are £17 but Fierce Grace is also part of ClassPass, which makes it even more convenient. So if you feel like getting in a bit more heat without the sun, try it out class and just remember to wear minimal clothing.
