Time Out says

When you roll out of bed with a hangover, Herne Hill provides the perfect pick-me-up. Join the bleary-eyed locals who flock to this strip of stalls lining the pedestrianised street outside Herne Hill station, and grab cheapish restorative treats from crepes to curries. The vibe is chilled-out, gastronomic window-shopping – for as long as your rumbling stomach can hold out, anyway. Visit the charming Frenchman who asks, ‘are you ready for tartiflette?’ (the answer should be ‘oui’). Grab a coffee from Wish’s little outdoor machine, by the bike repair stall, or a spicy sausage from Cannon & Cannon – but be quick, though, as ravenous south Londoners tend to gobble up the best stuff by early afternoon. There are also stalls selling crafts, bric-a-brac and vintage clothes, offering style as well as sustenance.

Despite mixed reviews here this is totally my sort of market! Enough variety to keep trying something new and not too big that it draws huge crowds. The perfect balance for a nice chilled out Sunday. Great atmosphere and amazing food, perfect Sunday afternoon! Can be followed by a nice stroll around Brockwell Park to burn off some of those market calories!

Very nice small market, with a good mix of food, decoration, vegetables stall. Very small, so I would recommend to buy something to eat on a sunny day and walk to Brockwell Park to have a picnic. The Tartiflette stall is to die for! You need to have the stomach for it, for it is, as you know, cheese with more cheese with onions and potatoes and lard, but no one can resist the smell. Regularly there is a galettes stall too, very good but a bit small. Overall there is a nice atmosphere but you cannot stay very long.

A nice local market but I would not go out of my way to come here. It is very small.

It has a real village feel but sadly there aren't enough stalls to keep me going back for more.
