A much-needed left-leaning, independent bookshop in Kings Cross. Nothing much to look at on the outside but this belies its great array of fascinating political, economic and social books, as well as fiction titles, on the inside. The staff are always exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable.

From economic textbooks and socio-political non-fiction, to Sci-Fi to graphic novels, this North London independent bookstore specialises in literature to make you think, ask questions and, hopefully, get inspired to change the world for the better. A bit too left-wing for my personal taste (you want a balance of opinions to appear credible), this is still a great place to discover some new titles, meet like-minded people and get inspired to make a difference!

Housmans has good-value used books, a carefully selected of magazines and books in general, and even an intriguing events schedule. A great place to pick up presents for the anarcho-syndicalists in your life.

My favourite bookshop in London, they just don't make them like this any more. The best selection of across the board left politics books, and other weird and wonderful bits and pieces. With indy bookshops shutting all over London, it's great to see Housmans going strong after all these years.
