The shelves of James Craven’s pretty Belgravia boutique are laden with wares by prestigious perfumers, including stalwarts like Annick Goutal, Creed, and lesser-known makes from traditional French and Italian perfume houses, such as Frédéric Malle’s Editions de Parfums. One of the shop’s attractions is the care given to those selecting gifts for others. Craven builds up a profile of the intended recipient by asking questions about looks, personality, favourite colours and even food. This personal approach is what sets the family-run business apart from other perfume shops. Les Senteurs always supplies a sample with each sale so that the perfume can be tested before the bottle is opened.
