Time Out says

When it’s time for tea, this Camden shop is a pretty sweet spot

A resident of vibrant Camden Town, Mei Leaf is no ordinary teahouse. Originally opened as a modern holistic health shop, Mei Leaf now functions as a sip-happy tea shop and speciali-tea brewing bar.

With wooden shelves piled high with a selection of teas, supplements and aromatherapy oils, Mei Leaf creates unique blends and tea concoctions that you would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere. Tea-lovers can also find a particularly impressive array of medicinal blends and flower and berry-filled sachets.

The tea bar offers exotic concoctions, such as tea infused with red dates and rosebuds as well as fragrant and nutty, spice-infused lattes. If you’re busy then you can take your tea to go, but if you’re in need of some sweet re-leaf there’s space to sit too. And shop. Mei Leaf sells all of the refreshment accessories you could think of: cast iron teacups and teapots, strainers, hot and cold brewers, tea towels, bamboo tweezers, matcha whisks and more.

From the owner Don Mei: ‘We deal in small-batch curated tea, so pretty much everything is limited-edition. We love hunting down precious teas that you can hardly ever get – they’re a world away from the scented blends and standard export tea.’

The best tea house ever. Quiet, sublime ambience and friendly staff who have tought me to prepare my tea the correct way - i.e. to ditch the teabags! ;) I can't imagine a day without my glass tea brewer. And anytime I'm in Camden and in need of de-stressor, I go to my 'temple' for one of their ace teas and come out a new person!

Perhaps London's finest tea shop: knowledgeable staff, an excellent range of teas and tea-making equipment to buy and an extensive menu of stuff that can be enjoyed at the premises.

Tea is now everywhere, but perfect tea is only there.

I used to leave in Yunnan, cradle of the Tea and since i left, this place is one of the rare one i could experiment the real spirit of leaves.

Chinalife is not only importing tea, they are tea lovers, going to the roots of the trees to be sure to share the best with you.

Tea is a bridge btw China and our world, but is also a deep way to connect with ourselves and then a leaf is not just an anonymous leaf, it is alive, this is Life !

Dom (owner) has a passion for tea and travels to China every year to collect new varieties. You can learn a lot about tea just by visiting the shop. Lots of other tea related events arranged around the shop that you can discover if you sign up for the news letter.

Beautiful venue to try out every type of tea imaginable and wonderful staff who are always happy to recommend. My first port of call when I'm in Camden.

Chinalife is an incredible place, serving the best tea in London. I go here to find rare blends sourced in China by Don using his highly tuned curating tea master skills. I can rely on Chinalife not only to bring me the best of the oolongs and puerh teas that i like, but also selection of Limited Special Reserves from bespoke tea farmers hidden away in the mountains. If, like wine, you are a connoisseur of tea, this is the ONLY place to buy tea. There is also a varied selection of books in their bookshop and highly qualified Acupuncturists for various treatments. Chinalife is an institution for chinese medicine and a forward thinking brand that is helping to educate and bring more conscious awareness to us as a generation in more ways than one. Highly recommended!

a really good shop where you can find many many kind of tea! and the owners and almost all the employees are so helpful when you need an advice! you can also go to the library if you want to improve your knowledge about tea or about natural things for your health!!!

Mei Leaf is a tea shop. But tucked behind the shop is a space, akin to a cafe, but the deco is very much suited for savouring your Chinese tea. It's the kind of place you'll find a tea connoisseur sipping tea with their caged bird companion. They serve tea, matcha ice-cream, turmeric latte and a small selection of sweet bites. They also conduct tea masterclasses. Everyone who works there, even the youngest looking employee, is very knowledgeable about the products. I am amazed how much one can talk about tea.

The 'cafe' is not very obvious from the outside.
The matcha ice-cream is a very generous portion for £3.50. The matcha is organic, the ice-cream is not too sweet, smooth, light and as much as I like it, I'd want the matcha to have a stronger taste. An extra sprinkling of matcha powder did make me happy!

A friend of mine and me (both German) went to this teahouse on her birthday. She had a little cough, so the tea would help her a lot. Later on we realised we forgot to pay, but of course came back. ;)

5 Stars for nice staff and high quality tea brewed with love. =)

I love their tea and there produces. When I come home I always am looking forward to making a cup of tea gongfu style! What can I say I'm a teahead!

I keep a pack of Amber gaba oolong on my desk at work to make sure I turn up everyday. Delicious!

They may not have the biggest selection of teas, but most certainly one of the best and with their tea cocktails they add a nice spin to them.

Gorgeous tea prepared by an educated and hospitality minded staff. They sincerely want people to feel welcome. A true nirvana for tea enthusiasts.

The tea sold here is of high quality(it as become my favourite tea shop), very well organised. The staff is very friendly, very nice, and they actually know their teas(unlike other big names in Tea in London) and are able to help you choose. I love it so much, I'm traveling all the way from Kent to buy tea, even though they have an online shop as well(which is very good), but I just love the shop so much. The tea they make here is always delicious and healthy, and I could spend a whole day just drinking tea

ChinaLife owner and staff have a strong dedication to real tea culture, and freely share that knowledge wirh people around the world via their excellent YouTube channel, and related social media channels.

This shop offers teas that are taste tested and imported directly from farmers' estates. Easily the finest selection of Chinese tea in the entire country.

I love Don's work and it really inspires me and it really helps me grow. I'll be sure to visit when in London.

This shop is the best source if you like tea and look for quality. It's not only a shop but you can actually sit down and have a pot of your chosen tea. They have cool tea ware too.

It's the best tea place in London, with great quality tea, really nice stuff and chill out atmosphere :)

Extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Don Mei is an inspiring tea-enthusiast, willing to spend a big chunk of his own time answering questions and just talking about his passion for tea.
As a London-loving tourist I previously haven't been very compelled to visit Camden more than twice, but now I discovered Chinalife, Camden has become a real destination for me!

A place where the best unique pure teas are on offer. Relaxing atmosphere at all times with a happy vibe. The staff have vast knowledge in giving good health advice. Once visited, you will return for sure!

I love the staff, the tea and overall oasis this place offers. I always leave feeling rejuvenated

Best tea in London, nobody comes even close to this level of expertise.

Came here for tea and it was very peaceful and the tea was so tasty. I love London

Amazingly authentic teas, acupuncture & herbs, bookshop & everything you need for healthy living under one roof!

Amazing place if you want to chill and drink real loose leaf Tea and none of that scented non sense.

Chinalife is a wonderful oasis from the madding crowd in Camden Town. The range of soothing teas and smoothies are interesting and delicious. There are also treatments available in acupuncture, massage therapies and traditional Chinese medicine - plenty to dip into. A breath of fresh air and a stalwart institution in an increasingly homogenised Camden High Street.

One of the gems of London! Very unique with a variety that you won't find anywhere else.

Chinalife is genuine about tea. - It deals with the purest brands of tea, not the most fashionable perfumed blends and mixes. A visit to Chinalife is not just a shopping or relaxation experience, it is an education.

Fantastic tea bar and fabulous teas to take home. A must if you're visiting Camden.

Incredible selection of tea and inventive tea mocktails made fresh at the teabar.
