No Noise at Selfridges

Time Out says

The shops of Oxford Street are rarely described as havens of tranquillity – which is why Selfridges is determined to provide sanctuary amid the chaos. The department store has teamed up with the meditation gurus at Headspace to present No Noise – an initiative that aims to turn down the white noise of modern living and bring in 2013 with an 'om'. The Quiet Shop will stock an exclusive selection of unbranded items, and iconic products (including Selfridges' famous yellow bags) will be found stripped of their logos. The Foodhall is chipping in with Food for Thought events and special brain-boosting menus, and Idler Talks will take place every Sunday afternoon to help you contemplate topics such as poetry, moonlight and cloud-spotting. In a return to a concept first introduced by Harry Gordon Selfridge in 1909, the store has also installed a Silence Room, where in 2013 you can enjoy a moment's mobile-free peace.
