A real gem of a shop selling wonderful whimsical and practical things for kids. I have never failed to find an unusual present here and my kids have so enjoyed the workshops. Julia and her helpers are always happy to assist and it's lovely just mooching round the shelves. Sadly we have moved away but we're looking forward to the online shop!

My favourite shop in Blackheath. There's always something that catches my eye when I am in there and I am there a lot! Amazing choice of toys, books and crafts which are wonderfully curated by Julia

Put aside the blinking battery bound devices that keep kids quiet, take them to this great children's toy shop and watch their imaginations come alive.

An outstanding toy shop stocking traditional toys and books, with a contemporary vibe. We always receive a warm welcome and love the fact that our child can play with the toys whilst we shop.

Fantastic, friendly children's shop at Blackheath Standard, selling toys, games, stationery and kids-related homewares; also runs a variety of art/craft/writing workshops at the weekends.

The best place around to buy special birthday presents for all your young (and young at heart) friends.

Ottie and the Bea has brought a spot of brightness that has really ignited a brilliant parade of local shops at Blackheath Standard. There is always a warm and friendly welcome, and plenty of patience for browsers and small children, with advice on hand and lots of temptation for grown-ups as well as children. How amazing that a tiny shop in a little-known corner of South East London can attract award-winning authors and illustrators for events. It really is a magical place.

Brilliant independent toy shop with lots of original toys. Great events and a very popular Book Club for 8-11 year olds.

Julia has created something truly unique with Ottie and the Bea. Julia herself connects with the children that visit her shop, she is genuinely interested in what they have to say. She is patient and listens to them so they can have a proper conversation and can therefore recommend books and toys that they will enjoy. The products themselves are unique and special and always affordable, especially great for birthday party presents. Her toys provide activities the children can do themselves, with friends or with adults. Our favourites are the family card games, especially for holidays - the boxes state they are suitable for ages 3-99! The Ivy and Bean book series is a wonderful and our daughter was thrilled to meet the illustrator at a workshop that Julia ran in the shop. Our children will grow up with Julia and her magical shop holding a special place in their childhood memories forever.

A toy shop stocked with great thoughtfulness and genuine care, and the staff are just as carefully chosen.  On top of this, Julia has made the shop so welcoming - even if you only buy the occasional small gift - that it has become a community hub for families in the area. Not just a shop, but a real contribution to this part of town.

We love Ottie & the Bea, a unique shop, individual, carefully sourced toys etc so original for all ages, an amazing experience never to be forgotten young or old! A great parade of individual artisan/indie shops at Blackheath Standard, so refreshing, & all with a loyal following.

Great shop. Genuine heart. Creating a better community for a long way further than our postcode. Much to love

Packed full of inspiring goodies! Impossible to leave without buying something.

I love this shop, there is always something that reminds me of my own childhood, bringing back wonderful memories I can then share with my own children.

The shop is so much fun. The owner loves what she does and you can always find a present that is loved. She also runs lots of workshops.

As well as being a fab shop, Ottie and the Bea has built a community among it's customers. A sense of belonging! The new look is amazing and makes the whole area look even better! O+B packs a huge and welcome community punch or rather hug!

This is simply the best children's shop I've ever been too. Fantastic toys, gifts and books and exceptional service.

Ottie and the Bea is a treasure trove of a toy shop. We're so lucky it's local. The book selection is second to none.

Best shop in the Royal Standard area, a total breath of fresh air and super great things to buy for kids (and some adults)

In an age of digital enlightenment children need to be encouraged to be creative and interact together, enjoy the magic of turning the pages of a loved book and to be inspired whilst having fun. Through their events, book club as well as the toys and crafts available at affordable prices, Ottie and The Bea offers children the space to be themselves. Highly recommended!!

A magical friendly place to delight the imagination. Always inspiring.

This is such a beautiful shop which is far more than just a toy shop and caters for all ages, everything from party supplies, books, comics to beautiful Djeco quality french products. Fabulous events such as "Ivy and the Bean International day" being held in October and workshops such as Manga drawing which my daughter loved.

Absolutely brilliant shop, wonderful and knowledgable service. THE place to go, if you need that special gift for kids of all ages. Warm and super friendly atmosphere and many extra activities too. I can only recommend it

This children's shop is a real gem: Julie and Peter clearly enjoy sharing their passion for wonderfully creative games, toys and books that you don't see in many other shops in the area. They also organise different workshops which are fantastic opportunities for children to meet their favourite authors or illustrators. Rarely do we walk past Ottie & the Bea without stepping in and finding something special.

This is the most beautiful and imaginative toy shop. My children's eyes light up ever time we enter and ipads, smart phones and TV screens are forgotten for a long time afterwards. It represents everything childhood should be about. Just brilliant.

I love it when a child has a birthday as it means I can legitimately go and have an explore of the lovely things.

Ottie and the Bea is a wonderful shop. I always come away with lovely things and a smile on my face. Julia is very kind to children and parents alike, and it's always a pleasure to shop there.

A great shop with a perfectly judged selection of toys, books and more that you just can't find anywhere else.
