Take Las Vegas glitz, add a dash of Morocco, some 1950s kitchenette design and a bit of reclaimed timber and – hocus pocus – you have the magical Ruby Violet. We’re not sure what Tufnell Park has done to deserve one of London’s premier ice-cream parlours, but whether you’re on a date or out with the kids, there are few occasions this place doesn’t suit. The ices (expect a choice of 18) are all made in a pristine kitchen from Duchy Originals organic milk, free-range eggs and a glass and a half of discernment.
Reliably excellent standard flavours are supplemented with intriguing diversions such as rhubarb and verjus, or elderflower and prosecco. On the counter there’s usually a gooey curiosity such as Guinness and blue cheese or chocolate-beetroot cake. For parties and special occasions you can order flower-shaped sorbets, layered balls and bombes, and ‘antarctic rolls’ of ice-cream in sponge. Drinks continue the high-level tone with fabulous hot chocolate made with Callebaut Couverture, Newby teas and Square Mile coffee. Service can be slow, if we’re being picky, but on the whole this place is excellent.
In our north London parlour we produce our unique hand made ice cream. In the space of a few years we have grown from our early days behind a stall at local markets to a busy parlour with a fast-growing following.

Living in this area doesn't make it easy to resists these delicious sweet treats. But I try to not go there every day, specially now in the summer time, haha. I can just suggest to try all the flavours, they are all super delicious and special. You can taste the fresh and beautiful ingredients in each of their flavours. If you are ever up north, this is worth a visit and I think they are even open the whole year! The restaurant is a small seating area but enough to enjoy your ice cream on rainy days. Its very cool and trendy inside with the interior sign which you cant miss from the outside :)
Amazing ice cream and sorbets, interesting flavours and friendly staff. A true neighbourhood gem. At the heart of the community.
As a long time ice cream fan, I think this place produces the most amazing ice cream and the BEST salted caramel I have tasted!
Fabulous tasting, locally made ice cream, often made with locally grown produce. Inventive & exciting flavours. The quality at RV's has raised my ice-cream tastebud standard & cant bare now to eat mass produced ice cream.
Impossible not to love Ruby Violet's ice cream with new varieties appearing frequently. If you've never tried chocolate SORBET try it here !!
It is quite difficult to find dairy-free cold desserts that really satisfy that chocolate craving, RV has the best chocolate sorbet I've ever had... can't believe it's a sorbet, it's texture and flavor were AMAZING! So creamy and chocolaty, I doubt any ice cream lover would be able to tell the difference. I had it with a scoop of strawberry-rhubarb sorbet---> killer combo! Love the shop designs too! Thanks RV for an awesome experience!
Yummy ice creams in unusual flavours. All made with local and organic ingredients. Great shop and packaging too and very friendly staff!
A very different and quirky ice cream shop. This shop does not follow the usual ice cream parlour tradition and there lies its success. A wide variety of good unusual flavours makes Ruby stand out from the crowd!
Best ice cream shop ever! Always get cravings for a good peanut butter and vanilla milkshake!
Lovely staff, beautiful shop!
Thankyou timeout, After reading about this place I thought I'd pop in as I live nearby. Really lived up to expectation, such a beautiful shop with some top notch ice cream :)
