Previously Falkiner Fine Papers, this old-fashioned shop, lined with wooden shelves, is a romantic’s haven. The range of decorative paper for craft projects, bookbinding and present-wrapping is superb: Bengali Fairtrade papers in sari-like colours, intricate, Japanese silk-screened designs and some truly glorious 1930s prints, with designs from the likes of Eric Ravilious. If you want actual bookbinding services, head to the bindery in Victoria; here you can get a photograph album bound in one of 150 choices of book cloth. If you want to do the binding yourself, however, you can find the sewing thread, glue, paper-making equipment and tools you’ll need here and at the new Soho branch (which also undertakes restorations and framing).
