Vying for attention in the market heavy Brick Lane, though frankly the biggest draw by far, is the Sunday UpMarket in the Old Truman Brewery. Here, you’ll find a buzzing mishmash of mopey students, bona fide locals and edgy attention seekers riffling through vintage stalls, quirky crafts by up-and-coming designers and stacks of old vinyl. If it all gets too much, artisan food stalls offer everything from dainty cupcakes to rich Ethiopian coffee, Japanese yakisoba, tapas and dim sum – a few of the stall-owners have lounging areas for customers too or kick back on a stoop in the Brewery’s adjacent outdoor space.

Sunday UpMarket has become a staple London hangout on the weekend. There's food, vintage, and craft stalls. Expect an assault on all the senses.

Loud, crowded and chock full of food options, from Burmese to Mexican to Turkish to Lithuanian plus vegan treats. There seems to be two sections with the larger one replicating the food of Truman Brewery with more vendors. Seems to be cash only (boooo). I advise going in the winter; as the weather gets nicer the crowds are just unbearable.

I got the spinach and feta gozemle (deliciously cheesy and salty) with a side pickled cabbage and hummus for a fiver. Also got three veg dumplings from another stand for £2.50 (nicely dense and chewy) and a quinoa plus veg Buddha bowl at another stand.
