A stalwart of Charing Cross Road, in 2010 Quinto and Francis Edwards moved from their premises at 48A just up the road to 72, but their remit remains the same: to sell antiquarian, rare, second-hand and collectible books and to continue their deservedly famous monthly wholesale change of stock, with new books brought regularly from Hay-on-Wye; lines of customers still extend down the street at 2pm on the chosen Sunday. There’s a rolling stock of around 50,000 titles, so you’ll feel like you’ve earned your find, especially if you’re rooting around the assortment of titles in the basement. Francis Edwards concentrates more on military history.
