Having closed a spin-off branch on East Dulwich Grove, this historic butcher has now beefed up the operation at the original shop, increasing staffing levels to reduce the infamous queues. Refreshingly, they not only maintain fair prices on their excellent meats, but also offer a ‘weekly special’ to provide an affordable option for all.

We used to love this butcher. The staff is indeed friendly. However over the last 12-18 months I think they have started taking their customers for granted. The meat quality has dropped. The beef is no longer as good as it used to be.
Worse, on two separate occasions we bought chicken wings, which left in the fridge for 24h (each time bought on a Saturday for a Sunday BBQ) turned out bad. One one of these instances, they were actually frozen, and they made no mention of it. Unacceptable. Dangerous.
Avoid - Lordship Lane needs a new butcher - nothing like some healthy competition.
Turner & George, you are welcome to open up here! It is far way from SE22, but worth the journey!
I love this shop! The butchers are friendly, they have an excellent range of the best meat at really good value prices. You won't find better quality or service anywhere.
Love this shop - well staffed, well stocked and open at realistic time. The meat is excellent value and my shop works out significantly cheaper than for lesser quality meat from the supermarket.
Long queues outside on Saturday mornings show that this wonderful shop is still as busy as ever, despite the recent opening of M&S Food along the street.
Been using this butchers for around 25 years when it was in Kennington then they moved to Dulwich I travel 60 miles in all to buy from then as I now live in Addlestone best place to buy from and great staff
The queues out the door and down the street attest to the popularity of this quality butcher, that is also open during the week if you don't enjoy our national sport. Large range of quality meats and cuts and very helpful staff make sourcing ingredients for recipes a pleasure.
Probably the best butchers in south east London! We used to live next to a great butchers in Barons Court and were worried when we moved about whether there would be a good replacement. But William Rose is ACE. The staff are friendly and really helpful and the meat is really good. There are always huge queues down the road on a Saturday and it doesn't open on a Sunday (which is quite normal for butchers), so it can get a bit busy. But that doesn't mean they will rush through your order and they will prepare stuff for you then and there if you need it. There's also a good mix of expensive and not too expensive meat.
