Absolute joke of a day. The way this amazing place is being run is appalling. I've been a member for 7 years. I used to love everyday that I spent there until today. The only reason I had joined this place was because of its amazing pools and I enjoy my swimming. You wait for a day like today to go to the Lido. You past the queue and offer your member card to the receptionist. Like every year, you have this privilege of being a member. No not today, as decided by this angry blonde at the counter. If with this attitude she is the manager of this place, praise the Lord!!! There is a sign for members only at one counter, so you go there to collect your Lido pass. The angry blonde, not sure if it was a blonde moment, intervene, stopped the receptionist and yelled at me to go back to the end of the 30 mins waiting queue as this is how I get in. What she doesn't realise is people like us work hard to be able to pay £44 a month which goes towards her salary, not really by £8 paid by weather driven one-off customers. The last few years I enjoyed the Lido on hot days (max 3 days a year) , you clock your card, changing room and you are out through the side door. Well I've got news for you, I quit. I will pay double in Virgin, but at least they treat their members respectfully. A pristine place like this in a pristine location like Crouch End deserves to be run by respectful customer centred staff. Anyway, I got my swim trunks on already, so i try my luck in the indoor swimming pool. Result - it's bloody closed! What a day! Ended in Priory Park with 2 beers!
Lovely 50m lido with lots potential, and certainly beats swimming in doors.
But looking forward to going back to London fields when it reopens as
it's bout 2.c warmer,
membership is cheaper,
they have proper lanes so although they are much busier, it's a much safer and more enjoyable swim as you aren't swimming into people floating in the fast lane or people swimming down the middle of lanes to avoid swimming into the flimsy lane barriers, which we all do
It's much cleaner
they look after their members by letting us use he kiosk to get in on very busy days unless its1 inand 1 out
Shame for park road as it could be fantastic like londonfields which caters for every type of swimmer
The outdoor pool is fantastic! Steam comes off it in the cold and it is huge and usually empty. The showers are not so good - very low pressure and although there are loads of lockers there is very little room to sit down or to put things down in the changing room - they should put an extra bench in the middle
An excellent pool , the reception staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is very clean and hygienic. The gym is also excellent with very attentive friendly staff. The not so brilliant part is that the showers have become a bit shabby with not all of them working properly and the pool side tiling has become a n bit decrepit. but I understand that is going to change with refurbishment. Generally very good value for money and I hope the pricing and very good staffing plus amenities continues to be accessible and affordable to everyone.
try to phone them and nobody answers the phone, went there pool is very dirty could not risk going in :(
