British Youth Opera celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary with two new productions in association with Southbank Sinfonia. 'A Night at the Chinese Opera' is a colourful depiction of China in the time of Kublai Khan, Marco Polo and the 'Orphan of Zhao', whose tragic tale of military invasion and personal vendetta is mirrored by Judith Weir's theatrically turbocharged comic-opera-within-an-opera. (Note: there is a pre-concert talk at 6.15pm. Sung in English; runs 125 mins.)
