Brixton House’s biggest show to date is this musical with a cast of nine written by Urielle Klein-Mekongo, with music by Rudimental’s Renell Shaw. Black Power Desk is set in the world of ’70s Black British activism and specifically inspired by the Mangrove Nine, a group of activists arrested for alledgedly inciting a riot from the titular Notting Hill restaurant – the subsequent trial saw them turn the tables on police and have a British judge ackowledge racism from British law enforcement for the first time ever.
