Broadway Barking is billed as the 'cultural hub at the heart of Barking and Dagenham'. As such, it doesn't do half bad. The bill focuses on emerging talent and the theatre prides itself on providing a platform for new artists – a task aided by the fact that Barking College's department of performing arts shares the building. Don't schlep out there expecting challenging theatre, however. Broadway Barking is best known for its accessible, family-friendly productions.
