Don Giovanni
Don Giovanni
OperaUpClose returns to Soho with Mozart's masterpiece about the unrepentant seducer. In her new English-language version, director Robin Norton-Hale sets the action set in the pre-credit-crunch days of the early noughties as Jonny, a ruthless and charming city trader, slinks effortlessly through London's dark underbelly, on the prowl for new experiences. However, dragging his reluctant intern behind him, he finds his hedonistic world unravelling as he leaves a trail of broken hearts and barristers' blood in his wake. With piano accompaniment.

waste of my money. never seeing another robin norton-hale production in my life. boheme wasn't that good either.

This is the future of opera: personal and modern but keeping the drama and music of the original work. Especially impressive was Richard Immergluck as the 'intern' of 'Johnny'. (A minor note: the sets and costumes were unworthy of this otherwise excellent production.)

Banker as the villain. How imaginative. Wake me up when its over

I would really recommend this to anyone, it is a very enjoyable evening showing a very talented young cast.

This show is truly entertaining! I am a professional opera singer and was massively impressed by the top notch singing from all cast members. The direction and acting is wonderful, and the music is just great. I love how the electronic music so cleverly uses the original score. The story is so engaging, this is a must see.

A brilliant evenings entertainment. This impressive production was engaging and funny with a sterling performance by all. A great night out!

This is a truly dreadful production - unoriginal and ham-fisted. Avoid.

AWESOME!!! Really funny, great singing and an intriguing adaptation. Well fused combination of electro and piano. Accessible and evolutionary- a must see this summer!
