Franz & Marie is essentially a musical version of Georg Büchner’s Woyzeck and follows the doomed romance between Franz Woyzeck and his girlfriend Marie, as the lonely army officer spirals into madness after submitting himself to medical experimentation in order to bolster his paltry income. It’s got book and lyrics by Chris Broderick and music by Rob Shepherd and Chris Broderick, and is directed by Michael Oakley.
