The National Youth Theatre head back to school for one of their shows in their London season. 'Homegrown' is a response to the fact that in February, three school girls left their Bethnal Green school to go to Syria to join ISIS. Playwright Omar El-Khairy pens a site specific piece, set in a school - Swiss Cottage's UCL Academy. There's an absolutely huge cast - 112 in total - and the script, which is in part verbatim, explores the implications of radicalism and extremism on communities.
