In 1733 Hasse's 'Siroe' was premiered in Bologna in 1733 and featured a stellar cast including the castrati Farinelli (as Siroe), Caffarelli (as Medarse) and the alto Vittoria Tesi (as Emira). Here, Ensemble Serse perform the modern performing version, reducing the uncut original to two hours. Cast includes John McMunn (tenor – Cosroe), Diana Haller (mezzo-soprano – Siroe).
