Fitzroy Square Opera presents a open-air production of Puccini's masterpiece. The Garden Opera Company is directed by Martin Lloyd-Evans, and the tale of love and loss is updated to 1940s Paris. (The London square is transformed into an oasis in the middle of Fitzrovia, the garden dressed with uplighting and flares and the performance relayed to passing visitors. Sung in Amanda Holden's English translation. Garden opens from 5.30pm for picnics – opera picnics supplied by La Fromagerie at a cost of £22; there is a cash bar.)
