Getting blessedly back in touch with its avant-garde European side, the Barbican welcomes this three-hour opus from French filmmaker and director Caroline Guiela Nguyen, which looks into the hidden dramas behind the world of couture fashion. It follows a fashion house that’s given a commission to create a dress for a British princess; the play traces the dress’ arduous creation. If that sounds potentially a bit dry: well we don’t know a huge amount about it, but you’ll be thrilled to know the advice includes talk of ‘psychological and physical violence as well as suicide’.
Performed in French with Englush surtitles.
