[title]
UK premiere of a Russian classic – Alexander Ostrovsky's dark, satirical study of love and betrayal in the ambitious merchant class – in a new translation by Samuel Adamson. The London Gypsy Orchestra have been consulted for Jacqui Honess-Martin's production, as the tale of a beautiful but penniless young woman putting herself on the market for marriage is steeped in the music and dance tradition of the Roma Gypsies. The cast includes Ben Addis, Brendan Gregory, Jennifer Kidd, Annabel Leventon and Tarek Merchant.
