The great British-led international company Cheek by Jowl tackles its first-ever Spanish language production, a new version of the great seventeenth-century Basque dramatist Pedro Calderón de la Barca best-known work, ‘Life is a Dream’. A meditation on free will versus fate, it follows Rosaura, a young woman heading into Poland dressed as a man, in search of vengeance. As ever with CbJ, it’s directed by Declan Donnellan and designed by Nick Ormerod.
