Following on from last season's success, a pair of short works from composers famous outside the world of opera, with unexpected subjects and novel approaches. 'The Tell-Tale Heart' brings together Edgar Allan Poe's gothic horror and former Police drummer and composer Stewart Copeland, and stars Richard Suart and Philip Sheffield. Meanwhie, 'The Doctor's Tale', from Anne Dudley (of group The Art of Noise, who composed the soundtrack to 'The Full Monty') and librettist Terry Jones (of the Monty Python troupe), unveils a Python-esque story of a doctor whose devoted patients rush to the rescue after he is forced to stop practising. Its cast includes Harriet Williams and Sadhbh Dennedy. The music is performed by Chroma Chamber Ensemble under Robert Ziegler and Tim Murray; the directors are Jonathan Moore and Terry Jones. (Sung in English; running time: two hours 10 minutes.)
