The rather bland name belies the fact that this is the legendary Rowan Atkinson’s first West End show in 40 years – and the odds are it’ll be his last, given he’s now in his early seventies. If that wasn’t all momentous enough then it’s actually been so long since he’s performed his own comedy on stage that he has never done either Blackadder or Mr Bean live before (though several of his old routines found their way in early Bean). But now he’s back, he’s collaborating with old pals Richard Curtis, Ben Elton and Howard Goodall, and he's bringing Blackadder and Bean to the stage for the first time, plus some other classic routines, plus some new ones too.
The initial run sold out instantly, but there’s nothing else schedule at the Gillian Lynne Theatre until the summer, so fingers crossed more dates get announced.
