As Owen Sheers's novel Resistance, and its film adaptation, recently explored, the Nazi occupation of Britain was a real fear during a large part of world war two. The “scallywags” whose story forms the basis of this new play were the auxiliary units, or secret agents, recruited to protect Britain should it fall under Hitler's control. The show, directed by Nathan Chapman for his SOOP theatre company, comes to London following airings at the Brighton and Oxford fringe.
