Twelve years after it opened on Broadway, the family-friendly musical based on the colourfully philosophic and insistently silly creations of Dr Seuss is finally getting its West End premiere (it's already had a UK tour). America may hold a very special place in its heart for the man whose nonsense verse ran to 46 books, from 'The Cat in the Hat' to 'Green Eggs and Ham', 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' and 'One Fish Two Fish Red iIsh Blue Fish' (all amalgamated here alongside many others). But British childhoods also tripped merrily along to Seuss's contagious anapestic tetrameter, and the presence of Monty Python's Eric Idle as co-creator alongside Tony Award-winning 'Ragtime' composers Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty should be an added draw.
