The Estate

A real rarity here: going straight into the National Theatre, The Estate is the debut play by its writer Shaan Sahota who is, somewhat astonishingly, also a doctor. It concerns a British Asian politician named Angad who emerges as the favourite to take over when the leader of the opposition is unseated by a scandal. But can he negotiate the tricky path to power – and his own family? Daniel Raggett directs a cast led by Adeel Akhtar as Angad.
