An iconoclastic approach to Henry Purcell's fantasy opera, with its a cast of Lovers, a Drunken Poet, Night, Mystery, Secrecy, Juno, Phoebus, Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Hymen. Featuring circus artists, solo singers and a striking staging by Mexican director Mauricio García Lozano. Philip Pickett conducts the New London Consort, with Joanne Lunn (soprano), Christopher Robson (countertenor), Ed Lyon (tenor), Michael George (bass-baritone), Dana Marbach (soprano), Faye Newton (soprano), Timothy Travers-Brown (counter-tenor), Joseph Cornwell (tenor) and Simon Grant (bass-baritone).
